Leaked screenshots suggest WhatsApp could add video calling

Leaked screenshots fromMacerkopf.de, a German technology blog, appear to show video calling on WhatsApp, the popular messaging client.
Macerkopf.de claims that the screenshots are from an unreleased version of the software — 2.12.16.2 — but it is unclear if they are legitimate. Business Insider has reached out to WhatsApp to confirm their authenticity.
WhatsApp recently added voice calling over the internet, and so the addition of video calling would make sense as the service expands.
Facebook, which owns WhatsApp,added video calling to Messengerin April.
WhatsApp has gained a large following outside of the US, with hundreds of millions of users in Asia, Latin America, and Europe.
The service was recently banned in Brazil for two days, but was re-instated after just a few hours as users complained.

Welcome to the mosque feeding 400 people a night

During the month of Ramadan Muslims across Wales are fasting during daylight hours. It's a time to reflect and think of others.
The Dar Ul-Isra mosque in Cardiff has been catering for hundreds of people during this time, so many can come together to break the fast.
In the months leading up to Ramadan, Social Events Co-ordinator Abu Mustafa organises equipment and ingredients, to feed those who attend the meals. On average a dinner to feed up to 400 people contains:
  • 7kg of lentils
  • 35kg of rice
  • 50kg of meat

Teams of volunteers cook and serve the food - all without tasting or trying, as they too are fasting:

This needs practise....We make this from our service to God

Box office collections: Deepika Padukone, Ranveer Singh’s Bajirao Mastani is overtaking SRK’s Dilwale

Deepika Padukone and Ranveer Singh's Bajirao Mastani, which had a slow start at the box office, has picked up pace over the weekend thanks to the strong and positive word of mouth. Bajirao Mastani's collections have now registered a jump and is doing much better than Shah Rukh Khan-Kajol's Dilwale.
Bajirao Mastani and Dilwale, which have been going head strong at the box office, had witnessed a growth in their collections over the weekend, but Monday (December 22) collections have come as a surprise as SRK's undefeated Dilwale has been overpowered by the collections of 'Bajirao Mastani'.

The collections of Dilwale declined by 50 per cent on Monday, whereas Bajirao Mastani's collections went down by mere 10-15 per cent. The figures of Bajirao Mastani's collections were ahead of Dilwale for the first time on Monday as the movies earned Rs. 10.25 cr and Rs 10.09 cr respectively.
While, Dilwale had fans desperately waiting for the SRK-Kajol pairing on screen , Bajirao Mastani seems to be going strong in the long run with the positive word of mouth.
Rohit Shetty's film is also doing good overseas. The total collections of both the films still puts Bajirao Mastani in the second position.
The overall collections of 'Dilwale' in India are Rs. 75.18 cr, and Bajirao Mastani has earned Rs. 57.02 cr.
Rohit Shetty recently said that it was not Bajirao Mastani that affected the film but the people calling a ban on the movie did.

Monkey business: This primate's bus driving skills in UP could've been aimed at reviving a tradition

Did you know that 14 December is unofficially celebrated internationally as Monkey Day?
Yes, 14 December is the day to celebrate the existence of non-human primates. However, a monkey in Uttar Pradesh missed the memo and kicked off celebrations a week late as he decided to celebrate his ability to drive a bus.
In probably one of the most awesome (or awful, depending on what you deem appropriate) things ever done by an animal, the monkey in Bareilly decided to show everyone his driving skills when he got into a parked bus, switched on the engine and drove the bus around, that too in second gear.
This report in The Times of India said that the driver of the bus only managed to gain control of the vehicle after it had hit two other buses parked nearby.
Maybe the monkey was just trying to honour the origin of Monkey Day by pulling a prank, which went a tad bit too far. After all, the origin of Monkey Day was also almost as crazy as a bus driving monkey in Uttar Pradesh.

In 2000, Michigan State University art student Casey Sorrow decided to play a prank on his friend and simply scribbled 'Monkey Day' on his friend's calendar under 14 December, according to Metro Times.
This turned into a tradition in which Sorrow and his friends would mimic monkeys on 14 December every year.
What makes Monkey Day even more hilarious is that it is a joke aimed at the large number of holidays in December. Monkey Day "is sort of a backlash against things like Sweetest Day, these holidays that were invented by a company specifically to sell a product," 'Monkey Day celebrant' Carl Oxley III was quoted as saying in the article.
That does, in fact, sound like a good idea. Maybe we could start celebrating Jasmine Day as a counter to something as nauseating as Rose Day. Because other flowers need love too.
